Travelling around Sharp Island
Hiking Route

There are 4 artworks displayed on Sharp Island in the Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival 2024. The island has a unique landscape. This route includes crossing the tombolo of the island to Kiu Tau to view the artwork, which needs to be matched with the time of low tide.

Suggested Route
  1. From Sai Kung Pier to Sharp Island Pier (around 20 minutes kaito ride)
  2. Visit the artwork "Ocean Says" next to Sharp Island Pier (10 minutes)
  3. Go to Kiu Tsui Beach to view the artwork “It’s Not Here, It’s Over Here” (10 minutes)
  4. Cross the tombolo and view the pineapple bun rocks (10 minutes)
  5. Arrive at Kiu Tau, walk uphill to view the artwork "Moonrise in Daylight" (20 minutes)
  6. Return to Kiu Tsui Beach (20 minutes)
  7. Go to the entrance of the Sharp Island Country Trail to view two ceramic pieces of the artwork "A Grand Pineapple Bun Tour" (15 minutes)
  8. Return to Sharp Island Pier, return to Sai Kung (around 20 minutes kaito ride)

Time required: around 2-2.5 hours

Remarks:

– The tombolo at Sharp Island is only accessible when the tidal level is lower than 1.4 meter. Don’t forget to check on the day tidal levels before crossing the tombolo, observe the safety guidelines and pay attention to the return time. – The above is only a suggested route, visitors can adjust the itinerary according to their own ability or needs

Sharp Island Country Trail connects Hap Mun Bay and Kiu Tsui Beach. Apart from enjoying the scenery, you can also view the artwork “A Grand Pineapple Bun Tour”, which consists of 10 ceramic pieces on the trail.

  1. You can start from Hap Mun Bay Beach or Kiu Tsui Beach
  2. Hiking along the Sharp Island Country Trail

Time required: around 1 hour

Remarks:

– Stairway up/down at part of the road along Sharp Island Country Trail, and some sections are quite steep and sandy, visitors should wear suitable clothing and bring along sufficient water
