There are 5 artworks displayed on Kau Sai Chau(Kau Sai Village) in the Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival 2024. This route allows you to experience the tranquillity of a small fishing village and discovers the unique historical story of Kau Sai Village.

Suggested Route
  1. From Sai Kung Pier to Kau Sai Village Pier (around 30 minutes kaito ride)
  2. Visit the artwork "The Root of Squids" (10 minutes)
  3. Visit Hung Shing Temple (10 minutes)
  4. Visit Kau Sai Village Story Room (15 minutes)
  5. Visit the artwork, "Sails" and "Our Celestial Commons" (20 minutes)
  6. Visit the artwork "Village Whisper" (10 minutes)
  7. Visit the Wo Fung Pavilion (5 minutes)
  8. Enjoy the artworks "Weaving Wave Pavilion" and the attraction Scallop Rock (15 minutes)
  9. Return to Kau Sai Village Pier (15 minutes)
  10. Return to Sai Kung (around 30 minutes kaito ride)

Time required: around 2-2.5 hours

Remarks:

– The above is only a suggested route, visitors can adjust the itinerary according to their own ability or needs

There is a herbal plant trail near the Hung Shing Temple at Kau Sai Village. As you hike higher, the path offers stunning open views of the islands, bays and rocky shores of Port Shelter.

Suggested Route
  1. Get a herbal trail leaflet in the story room
  2. Find the green sign and climb the steps, pass the shaded clearing where the village school used to stand and reach to the top

Time required: around 20 minutes

Remarks:
– Stairway up/down along the Herbal Plant Trail, visitors should wear suitable clothing and bring along sufficient water
– The above is only a suggested route, visitors can adjust the itinerary according to their own ability or needs

The kaito services from Sai Kung Town to Kau Sai Village and High Island is operated by Tsui Wah Ferry, which is a licensed regular service approved by the Transport Department. For details, please visit Tsui Wah Ferry website.

To support the operation of the Arts Festival, during the Arts Festival period (i.e. from 13 November 2024 to 12 January 2025), additional services will be offered from Tuesday to Fridays, with extra services on weekends and public holidays. Visitors may go to the Sai Kung Public Pier to queue for boarding the kaito on the day of visit and pay by octopus card or cash (no change). The single trip fare is HKD65, same price for adults and children.

The public kaito services between Sai Kung and Kau Sai Village/High Island offer concessionary transport fares. Elderly and eligible persons with disabilities can travel to Kau Sai Village/High Island at a concessionary fare of HKD2 per trip.

Hong Kong residents aged 60 or above must use a JoyYou Card to benefit from the $2 Scheme. Eligible persons with disabilities must use valid Personalised Octopus with “Persons with Disabilities Status” to enjoy the $2 concessionary fare.
