Island Hopping Experience

Four Islands “Flash mob” Journey

Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival covers four islands. If you want to visit all the islands in one day,  you can do so by careful planning in accordance with the Island Hopping Kaito Experience schedules of both routes! 

The following is suggested route and schedule for the 4 islands “flash mob” journey (1) – Route B in the morning and Route A in the afternoon

Suggested Route
  1. Take Route B kaito at 09:00 from Sai Kung to High Island (around 45 minutes kaito ride)
  2. Visit High Island to view artworks and attractions (2 hours)
  3. Take Route B kaito at 11:45 from High Island to Kau Sai Village (around 30 minutes kaito ride)
  4. Short visit at Kau Sai Village to view artworks and attractions (45 minutes)
  5. Take Route B kaito at 13:00 from Kau Sai Village back to Sai Kung (around 30 minutes kaito ride)
  6. Lunch at Sai Kung Town (30-40 minutes)
  7. Take Route A kaito at 14:15 from Sai Kung to Yim Tin Tsai (around 20 minutes kaito ride)
  8. Visit Yim Tin Tsai to view some the artworks and attractions (2 hours)
  9. Take Route A kaito at 15:35 from Yim Tin Tsai to Sharp Island (around 15 minutes kaito ride)
  10. Visit Sharp Island to view the artworks and attractions (1 hour)
  11. Take Route A kaito at 17:00 from Sharp Island back to Sai Kung (around 20 minutes kaito ride)
  12. Back to Sai Kung to visit the artwork located at Sai Kung Promenade (15 minutes)

Time required: around 8 hours

Remarks:

– The two 4 islands routes will only operate on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays
– This route needs to take both Route A and B Island Hopping Kaito Experience ferries, please purchase the ticket online in advance
– This route takes more time and includes a longer walk. Visitors should wear suitable clothing and bring along sufficient water and food
– The tombolo at Sharp Island is only accessible when the tidal level is lower than 1.4 metres. Don’t forget to check on the day tidal levels before crossing the tombolo, observe the safety guidelines and pay attention to the return time. Learn more about the predicted tides on Hong Kong Observatory website
– The above is only a suggested route, visitors can adjust the itinerary according to their own ability or needs and should also take into consideration the kaito schedules

  2. Visit Yim Tin Tsai to view some of the artworks and attractions (1 hour)
  3. Take Route A kaito at 11:35 from Yim Tin Tsai to Sharp Island (around 15 minutes kaito ride)
  4. Visit Sharp Island to view some the artworks and attractions (1 hour)
  5. Take Route A kaito at 12:50 from Sharp Island back to Sai Kung (around 20 minutes kaito ride)
  6. Lunch at Sai Kung Town (40-50 minutes)
  7. Take Route B kaito at 14:00 from Sai Kung to Kau Sai Village (around 30 minutes kaito ride)
  8. Short visit at Kau Sai Village to view some of the artworks and attractions (30 minutes)
  9. Take Route B kaito at 15:00 from Kau Sai Village to High Island (around 30 minutes kaito ride)
  10. Visit High Island to view artworks and attractions (2 hours)
  11. Take Route B kaito at 17:30 from High Island back to Sai Kung (around 45 minutes kaito ride)
  12. Back to Sai Kung to visit the artwork located at Sai Kung Promenade (15 minutes)

Access to Yim Tin Tsai/Sharp Island/Kau Sai Chau(Kau Sai Village)/High Island

Access to Yim Tin Tsai/Sharp Island

The kaito ferries travelling to Yim Tin Tsai/Sharp Island are operated by different kaito operators. Visitors may go to the operators’ counters located along the Sai Kung Pier promenade to purchase kaito tickets on-site (usually round-trip tickets will be sold but no single trip tickets).

During the Festival period, visitors can pre-purchase the Festival exclusive Island Hopping Kaito Experience (Route A) tickets on the Festival website.

Access to Kau Sai Chau(Kau Sai Village)/High Island

The kaito ferries travelling to Kau Sai Chau (Kau Sai Village)/High Island are operated by Tsui Wah Ferry. Those are the regular kaito ferry services licensed by the Transport Department. The single-trip fare is HK$65 (adult or children) and HK$2 for elderly using JoyYou Card and eligible persons with disabilities. Visitors may pay the fare by using octopus card or cash (no change) when boarding the ferry.

During the Festival period, visitors can pre-purchase the Festival Exclusive Island Hopping Kaito Experience (Route B) tickets at a discounted price on our website, which will include 3 single trips.

Online registration for Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival 2024 programmes and guided tours will be opened from 6 Nov (Wed) 10am in phases. More details will be announced soon. Please stay tuned for latest updates.

Registration Information

The online registration will be open from 2 Nov (Wed) 10am on a fortnightly basis, for the coming 2-4 weeks upon the system’s update. The registration schedule is as follows:

*Public may register for the programmes and guided tours that are still available for booking from the previous period. Quotas are limited and registration is open on a first-come-first-served basis. For programmes/guided tours that are already full, a waiting list with 20 quotas is available for signing up. If any successful registrants withdraw from the event, notification will be sent to registrants on the waiting list in their order of registration. They will need to confirm the registration within 24 hours upon receipt of the notification to get the place.
