There are 10 and 4 artworks displayed on Yim Tin Tsai and Sharp Island respectively in the Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival 2024. You can take the island hopping kaito to visit both islands in one day. This half-day route allows you to visit the most artworks at Yim Tin Tsai and Sharp Island.

Suggested Route
  1. Sai Kung to Yim Tin Tsai (around 20 minutes kaito ride) - may take the island hopping kaito departing from Sai Kung during 10:15 - 14:15, operating at a frequency of 1 hour
  2. Visit Yim Tin Tsai, view the artworks and attractions (2 hours)
  3. Yim Tin Tsai to Sharp Island (around 15 minutes kaito ride) - may take the island hopping kaito departing from Yim Tin Tsai to Sharp Island during 11:35 - 15:35, operating at a frequency of 1 hour
  4. Visit Sharp Island, cross the tombolo during low tide, walk a small part of Sharp Island Country Trail (1-1.5 hours)
  5. Sharp Island back to Sai Kung (around 20 minutes kaito ride)
  6. Back to Sai Kung to visit the artwork located at Sai Kung Promenade (15 minutes)

Time required: around 4-4.5 hours

You may also choose to visit Sharp Island first and island hop to Yim Tin Tsai afterwards.

Remarks:

– The tombolo at Sharp Island is only accessible when the tidal level is lower than 1.4 meter. Don’t forget to check on the day tidal levels before crossing the tombolo, observe the safety guidelines and pay attention to the return time. Enjoy all the artworks displayed on Yim Tin Tsai and Sharp Island in one day, with scenery of the mountains and the sea. This route includes hiking.

Suggested Route
  1. Sai Kung to Yim Tin Tsai (around 20 minutes kaito ride) - may take the island hopping kaito departing from Sai Kung Pier at 10:15 or 11:15
  2. Visit Yim Tin Tsai, view the artworks and attractions (2-3 hours)
  3. Yim Tin Tsai to Sharp Island (around 15 minutes kaito ride) - may take the island hopping kaito departing from Yim Tin Tsai Pier to Sharp Island Pier at 12:35 or 13:35 or 14:35
  4. Visit Sharp Island, cross the tombolo during low tide, get back to Kiu Tsui Beach (1 hour)
  5. Rest and refreshment (30 minutes)
  6. Hiking along Sharp Island Country Trail from Kiu Tsui Beach to Hap Mun Bay, enjoy the 10 ceramic artworks along the trail (1 hour)
  7. Return to Sai Kung (around 25 minutes kaito ride) - take the island hopping kaito departing from Hap Mun Bay Pier at 16:45 back to Sai Kung via Sharp Island Pier
  8. Back to Sai Kung to visit the artwork located at Sai Kung Promenade (15 minutes)

Time required: around 7-7.5 hours

Remarks:
– Stairway up/down at part of the road along Sharp Island Country Trail, and some sections are quite steep and sandy, visitors should wear suitable clothing and bring along sufficient water

  1. Sai Kung to Hap Mun Bay (around 25 minutes kaito ride) - may take the island hopping kaito departing from Sai Kung Pier at 09:45 or 10:45 to Hap Mun Bay Pier via Sharp Island Pier
  2. Hiking along Sharp Island Country Trail from Hap Mun Bay to Kiu Tsui Beach, enjoy the 10 ceramic artworks along the trail (1 hour)
  3. Cross the tombolo during low tide, get back to Kiu Tsui Beach (1 hour)
  4. Rest and refreshment (30 minutes)
  5. Head to Yim Tin Tsai (around 15 minutes kaito ride) - may take the island hopping kaito departing from Sharp Island to Yim Tin Tsai during 12:05-15:05, operating at a frequency of 1 hour
  6. Visit Yim Tin Tsai to view the artworks and attractions (3 hours)
  7. Return to Sai Kung (around 20 minutes kaito ride)
  8. Back to Sai Kung to visit the artwork located at Sai Kung Promenade (15 minutes)

Access to Yim Tin Tsai/Sharp Island/Kau Sai Chau(Kau Sai Village)/High Island

Access to Yim Tin Tsai/Sharp Island

The kaito ferries travelling to Yim Tin Tsai/Sharp Island are operated by different kaito operators. Visitors may go to the operators’ counters located along the Sai Kung Pier promenade to purchase kaito tickets on-site (usually round-trip tickets will be sold but no single trip tickets).

During the Festival period, visitors can pre-purchase the Festival exclusive Island Hopping Kaito Experience (Route A) tickets on the Festival website.

Access to Kau Sai Chau(Kau Sai Village)/High Island

The kaito ferries travelling to Kau Sai Chau (Kau Sai Village)/High Island are operated by Tsui Wah Ferry. Those are the regular kaito ferry services licensed by the Transport Department. The single-trip fare is HK$65 (adult or children) and HK$2 for elderly using JoyYou Card and eligible persons with disabilities. Visitors may pay the fare by using octopus card or cash (no change) when boarding the ferry.
