Arrive at East Dam and appreciate the geological features at East Dam led by a professional tour guide. The tour guide will introduce the history of High Island Reservoir, the formation of hexagonal rock columns, the formation of calderas, as well as the reasons behind the classification of Hong Kong Geopark as a global Geopark.
There will also be a volcanic eruption workshop, which will be exciting for the kids! After that, participants will walk along Pak A Village to High Island and dismiss.
Route: Start from High Island Reservoir East Dam. Hike along High Island Geo Trail. Join the volcanic eruption workshop. Then walk to Pak A Village entrance, walk along Pak A Village and dismiss at High Island.
Remarks:
Participants will need to arrange their own transportation to the assemble point East Dam and from the dismissal point at High Island after the event.

Sai Kung District Community Centre is vigorously promoting livelihood support and building a support network in rural area. With its service mission being “connect and mobilise community resources to love and care its folks and nature across Sai Kung”, it establishes a unique rural service model aiming to reduce the uneven distribution of resources between urban and rural areas, so that rural lives can be preserved and a win-win society as well created. The Centre also encourages the participation of various stakeholders to foster a win-win society.
By leveraging Sai Kung’s unique natural resources and environment, the Centre is promoting low-carbon themed activities in the district. By developing green skills, it is committed to enhancing community resilience. It also offers a variety of outdoor activities for different groups, promoting green living and ecological conservation concepts.
The online registration will be open from 2 Nov (Wed) 10am on a fortnightly basis, for the coming 2-4 weeks upon the system’s update. The registration schedule is as follows:
