The Chronicles of High Island

Vivian Ho

"The Chronicles of High Island" — Audio Introduction by the Artist

Three murals show village life,
Revealing Sai Kung’s hidden wonders.
Strange creatures, ancient lands,
And Hakka culture connecting people and gods.

Springtime Venture
Portraying Pak A’s rural Hakka charm,
Where silence partitions yet vibrancy blooms.
Noted, too, is the village chief’s sturdy papaya,
Braced against the breeze.

Divine Revelation
Tin Hau reveals her presence amidst the swirling sea waves,
protecting the fishermen at sea.
Lion and qilin dances burst into joy
to celebrate the peace and prosperity bestowed by the goddess.

Pearl in the Deep Sea
Explore the mysterious ocean with care,
Look for life that shines like pearls,
Protect the ocean so nature can breathe.
