The performance and augmented-reality (AR) art are meant to provoke and evoke reflections and reminiscences of the departure and longed-for return of loved ones.
The artwork and performance are situated on the old pier, the key point of departure of many generations of Yim Tin Tsai villagers as they left for far away lands, some to seek fortunes, others to join already departed families. And it was also at this point that returning villagers would first set foot on, hence the location is steeped in the remembrances and memories of the many who have left and sadly, the few who have returned.
The performance and AR art will draw from this deep well of memories and in artistic form, to once again arouse these memories to incite in ourselves, our own memories of our own loved ones who have also left for other places, and in the incitement of these memories, to remember them, to treasure them, to yearn for them, until the moment of their return.
