This activity uses handicraft as a means to enhance children’s knowledge and observation of St. Joseph’s Chapel at Yim Tin Tsai, so as to better understand its history and respond to the sculpture, “Homeward Voyage”, in its metaphorical reference to the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove offering protection for people coming on small boats. In this papercraft workshop, a kinetic dove and a popup card of the Chapel will be made. Such a three-dimensional crafting process would increase interest in learning. Then the children will be taken to the Chapel to learn about its features, such as its colours, motifs, stained-glass windows and archways. They will ply between their imagination and history while engaging in artistic creation, making the best use of their curiosity and knowledge in the creation of a piece of artwork.
This programme is designed for children aged 5-12 to be accompanied by parent(s).
